Cisco Meraki puts security appliances, wireless, switches and cameras into a single web dashboard, with firmware updates delivered from the cloud and monitoring built in. That makes it a strong fit for organizations with many sites and small IT teams.

The dashboard still needs decisions. Someone has to design the VPN and SD-WAN topology, set up VLANs and group policies, choose which security features to license and enable, and respond when an alert fires at 2 a.m. Our Meraki support covers those decisions and the day-to-day work behind them.

MR wireless

The most common question we get about Meraki is which MX license to buy. In general terms, the Enterprise tier covers core firewall, VPN, SD-WAN and traffic shaping, while the Advanced Security tier adds threat protection such as intrusion detection and prevention, content filtering and malware protection backed by Cisco Talos threat intelligence.

Meraki and Umbrella

Adding DNS-layer security with Cisco Umbrella

Cisco Umbrella blocks connections to malicious domains at the DNS layer, before a device reaches a harmful site, and it protects users on and off the corporate network. Umbrella policies can be applied to Meraki MR access points and MX appliances from the Meraki dashboard.

Cisco Meraki managed services mean a provider designs, configures, monitors and maintains your Meraki network for you. That includes dashboard alerts, firmware scheduling, configuration changes, security tuning and troubleshooting across MX, MR, MS and MV devices.

Yes. We often take over existing Meraki organizations. We start with a health check to find configuration drift, unused security features and licensing issues, then fix those before moving to ongoing management.

In general, the Enterprise license covers core firewall, VPN and SD-WAN features, while Advanced Security adds threat protection such as intrusion prevention, content filtering and malware protection. It can for many organizations. MX appliances can use several internet links with automatic failover and route applications based on link performance. Some organizations keep a private circuit for specific traffic, and we design around that.

Cost depends on the number of sites and devices, which product lines you run, how often your configuration changes and whether you need installation as well as management. Hardware and licensing are priced separately from our services. We scope it and give you a fixed monthly proposal.
